Tap Dance Shoes

The Foundation of Rhythm

At Lilburn School of Ballet, our tap program is designed to harmonize perfectly with classical training. We focus on developing exceptional musicality, precise timing, and the poise that comes from rhythmic mastery. Our students find confidence and joy in every step, learning how rhythm and fun are essential components of a well-rounded dance education.

By integrating tap into a classical curriculum, we help dancers unlock a deeper understanding of sound and weight, fostering a professional standard of performance that resonates beyond the stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have more questions about our Lilburn tap program? We're here to help reassure and guide you.

What kind of shoes do we need for tap?

Intro classes use black Mary Jane style tap shoes. Older students or those in higher levels typically wear black oxford-style tap shoes for better sound quality.

Is there a specific dress code?

Yes, tap students wear a conservative leotard and tights. Some levels allow fitted dance shorts over leotards to ensure visibility of footwork for the instructor.

Do we need prior experience to join?

Not at all! Our 'Intro Tap' and 'Tap 1' levels are designed specifically for beginners. We welcome new dancers at all ages to start their rhythmic journey.

Will my child participate in the recital?

Yes, all our tap classes prepare a choreographed piece for our annual Spring Recital. It’s a wonderful way for them to build confidence and show their progress.

How do make-up classes work?

If a student misses a class due to illness or personal reasons, they are welcome to attend a similar level class within the same month as a make-up.

Can we try a class before enrolling?

Absolutely! We encourage local families to schedule a trial class. It helps ensure the student feels comfortable with the teacher and the level placement.
