Excellence & Expectations FAQ

What are the core technical expectations for Advanced Division students?

Advanced students are expected to demonstrate consistent placement, core strength, and sophisticated musicality. Mastery of complex adagio and allegro combinations, as well as a refined understanding of classical épaulement, is required for level progression.

How many technique and pointe classes are required weekly?

Students in the Advanced Division follow a rigorous pre-professional schedule, typically including 5-6 technique classes per week, alongside dedicated pointe, Variations, and PBT as they progress through the program.

Are performance opportunities available for pre-professional students?

Yes. Advanced students frequently perform as soloists or corps de ballet with the Northeast Atlanta Ballet. We emphasize stage presence and professional conduct, providing numerous opportunities to perform classical repertory throughout the season.

Does the curriculum include Contemporary or Modern dance?

Absolutely. A versatile dancer is a successful dancer. Our advanced curriculum integrates Contemporary movement and Modern dance styles to enhance fluidity, expressiveness, and readiness for contemporary professional companies.

How does the school support students aiming for professional dance careers?

Beyond elite technical training, we provide audition preparation, guidance on summer intensive applications, and professional photography for portfolios. Our faculty leverages their professional networks to support students in their transition to careers or university programs.
